Why Now?
As global energy demand rises and grid infrastructure is pushed to its limits, the need for reliable, clean storage solutions has never been more urgent. At this critical juncture, Powin is reinforcing our ESG focus as a strategic imperative—prioritizing transparency, innovation, and long-term impact.
Since 2020, Powin systems have discharged over 1 terawatt-hour (TWh) of clean energy—enough to power nearly 35 million homes for a day. As of the end of 2024, we have deployed or are constructing over 17 GWh of storage capacity worldwide.
But our impact goes beyond numbers. We’re actively working to reduce emissions, modernize infrastructure, and make energy storage more equitable and accessible for all.
What’s Inside the Report
Our inaugural report outlines Powin’s approach to ESG across three core pillars:
Environmental Responsibility: Powering the Transition to a Low-Carbon Future
In 2024, we completed Powin’s first Greenhouse Gas Emissions Assessment. We are actively working with Tier 1 suppliers to decarbonize materials and processes, enhance battery recycling programs, and reduce the carbon intensity across the lifecycle of our energy storage systems.
Carbon reduction impact: With 3 TWh of annual throughput, Powin systems helped avoid an estimated 600,000 to 1,080,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions in 2024 alone.¹
¹Based on an assumption that 50–90% of throughput displaces fossil fuel-generated electricity, using an average emissions factor of approximately 0.4 metric tons CO₂ per MWh.
Social Responsibility: Putting People First
We believe that innovation is truly sustainable when people are supported, valued, and protected. That’s why Powin’s 2024 Sustainability Report outlines our robust approach to health and safety, diversity, and employee engagement.
Workplace safety: We’ve strengthened our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) framework and implemented rigorous protocols—such as Lockout/Tagout, PPE programs, and contractor certification processes—to keep our teams and partners safe.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), and Wellbeing: We launched We Flex, a video series highlighting work-life balance and flexible support for employees managing caregiving and personal goals.
Community investment: We remain committed to creating lasting impact in the communities we serve through workforce development, employee wellness, and safe working environments.
Governance: Transparency, Ethics, and Innovation
At Powin, governance means building trust through integrity. The report outlines how we:

- Strengthen our sustainable supply chain through rigorous sourcing policies and traceability efforts
- Ensure product safety and reliability through Powin’s Battery Lab, with over one million testing hours logged
